Long term implant survival is dependent on healthy tissue and healthy bone surrounding the implant. Peri-implantitis is becoming more prevalent in today’s dental population. Prevention and early diagnosis are crucial to the long term success of dental implants.
This Course will provide clinicians an understanding of risk factors, proper diagnosis and distinguishable traits of peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis. We will compare healthy implants vs teeth and review the standard protocol for the re-care appointment and basic implant maintenance, including proper periodontal disease.
Emphasis will be placed on the use of air polishing and Biofilm removal to aid in the prevention of implant disease.

L- PRF: Techniques and Applications for Dental Implant Cases

Location:
Palos Primary Care Center
15300 West Ave

Time:
Registration: 5:30 p.m.
Presentation and Dinner: 6:00 p.m. –7:30 p.m.
Fees:
ACMI Members $25
Non members – $75
Course Description
This course is designed for specialists and general practitioners who are interested in enhancing their bone grafting technique, especially for dental implant cases. Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is derived from a small sample of the patient’s blood, taken at the point of care and processed to develop a fibrin clot. The fibrin clot is prepared into a membrane that is rich in platelets, growth factors and cytokines necessary to produce rapid healing and efficient regeneration.
This biomaterial is resilient, strong and pliable, making it easy to manipulate and receptive to suturing. It can be cut to size and is supple enough to adapt to many anatomical areas. It is adhesive in nature, making it an ideal carrier for bone graft material. Uses for the material include bulking graft material, replacing graft material, using it as a barrier membrane, placing it in extractions sites for increased healing, and using it in guided tissue regeneration procedures. It is also ideal for extraction/immediate placement cases.

Course Description
In this entertaining and pearl packed presentation, Dr. Mike Meek shares the result of his decision to stop placing three-unit bridges and instead, refer for extraction and implant. This decision dramatically increased sales and efficiency in his general practice. In addition to the practice management features of this presentation, Dr. Meek demonstrates how single-implant restorations are referred and restored within the format of a busy general practice and how this business model has catalyzed growth in his practice year over year. More than just cementing crowns on abutments, Dr. Meek presents a start to finish restorative approach to propel a general practice into amazing success with implant restorations. Practitioners will learn case presentation pearls to increase conversion rates, treatment planning for profitability, immediate temporization of anterior implants day of surgery, and screw retained final restorations for a 15 minute implant restoration delivery and greater practice efficiency. This course is packed pearls for both the business and clinical side of the general practice and is enjoyed by practitioners of ALL experience levels.
Course Outline:
Learning Objectives:
This presentation encourages the traditional surgeon/restorative dentist relationship. Demonstrates “no brainer” case selection for implants versus bridges, and reinforces why this is the most efficient way for a practitioner to be involved in implant prosthetics. Immediate Temporization with screw retained temporary abutments Treatment planning and case presentation techniques for enhancing conversion rates and increasing profitability without doing surgery Use of PEEK Healing Abutment to achieve “shot free” screw retained restoration delivery in 15 minutes or less Introduce the Nobel Procera Angulated Screw Channel Crown and its posterior partner the Nobel Procera Full Contour Zirconia crown to allow screw retained restorations to be placed in most ALL situations and WHY this is important. Show benefits and simple techniques for use of DSLR camera to produce ultimate aesthetics in the anterior Demonstrate use of new DIGITAL WORKFLOW including intra-oral scanning at final implant check to render a one appointment final restoration treatment outcome for the restorative doctor-A ONE APPOINTMENT CROWN!
About the Speaker:
Dr. Mike Meek was a 1997 graduate from the dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. His class was the first undergraduate dental class to receive training in implant dentistry. Because of this fortunate timing, implant dentistry has been a part of his practice from day one. Since 1997, the application of implant dentistry to all areas of prosthetics has grown organically in this practice, and has become the most rewarding part of private practice for the doctor. Dr. Meek was awarded the Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry(FAGD) in 2012 and has made the study of implant dentistry and prosthetics the center of his continuing education. With its location in Central Austin, 38th Street Dental has provided Dr. Meek and his practice partner a fantastic platform their restorative driven implant practice.ion of the Diagnostic Imaging book.
